  • What is a motor third party liability insurance policy (Auto Civil Liability) and why is it needed?

    OSCPV (Autocivilka) is a contract of compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of land vehicles. To date, the maximum compensation amounts are 160,000.00 UAH. for damage to property caused in a road accident and 320,000.00 UAH. for damage to life and health caused in a road accident.

  • What is the maximum/minimum term for which a car can be insured under the OSCPV?

    The policy can be issued for a period of 15 days to 1 year for vehicles with temporary or foreign registration. For a period of 6 months to 1 year - for cars registered in Ukraine.

  • What does the cost of OSCPV depend on?

    Calculation of the cost of a civil car: basic payment * K1 (type of vehicle) * K2 (place of registration of the vehicle) * K3 (scope of use) * K4 (experience) * K5 (insurance period) * K6 (fraud) * K (bonus-malus) * discount for the beneficiary.

  • What penalties can there be for not having a compulsory car insurance policy?

    • A fine of UAH 850 is imposed for the absence of an MTPL policy or its expiration date.
    • If you forgot your insurance at home, you can get away with a warning or a fine of UAH 425.
    • When driving a car during a period not specified in the policy, you can pay UAH 425.

  • What benefits are there and who is exempt from mandatory insurance under the OSCPV?

    In accordance with the Law of Ukraine on Compulsory Civil Liability Insurance of Land Vehicle Owners, the following can obtain insurance on preferential terms (50% discount):

    • pensioners;
    • war veterans;
    • victims of the Chernobyl disaster (category I-II);
    • disabled persons of group II.

    The following are exempt from compulsory civil liability insurance:

    • participants of hostilities;
    • disabled persons of group I.
